without javascript, you can use other pseudo-classes like active and focus to trigger some user-interactions. otherwise, use js events like onclick.

Old computer guy out of the loop trying to help naive d-in-law comprehend webkit stuff in Adobe CSS 5 environs. My quick take is that unless you J-script, this transition feature is meant to be trig'd by events such as hover. Yes? Response appreciated. ~Bog

Thank you for looking, smfr!
Test 6 is not meant to be a bug. It was made as a hack I attempted but failed. Setting positive 360-deg doesn't work, so I thought neg 1-deg may work. (made it 100-deg to be visible). But I was wrong. Setting negative didn't make it clockwise.

I tested with 45-degree, and it worked as expected. Clockwise 45deg! So I guess it goes coounter-clockwise when the value is larger than 180-deg only. (it is a bug).

keyframe is an another stuff I would like to try. I am trying to figure out how to use :-)

Thanks, I looked at the bug. You are correct that rotations more than 180degrees don't work as expected on iPhone. We are aware of this issue. You can get around it by using explicit animations with keyframes every 90deg. This explains your tests 2, 3, 4, 5. In test 6 I think you are confused by the failure of test 2. Positive rotations are clockwise, negative are anticlockwise. iPhone and desktop Safari agree in this regard. Just don't use 180deg to test this :)
